Fivemeterswing with bendings
wood, metal mounts
270 x 300 x 300 cm
Irene Schueller transformed the idea of the swings for the outer space with the “Five Meter Swing.” Invited by the “Kunst auf der Liegewiese” Association in Freiburg, to make a contribution to the sculpture meadow Fauerlerbad, Schueller designed a model which actually came to the limits of statics. While a first wooden construction succumbed to strong winds, Irene Schueller finally succeeded in realizing a somewhat lower, solid wooden frame, which is characterized by seemingly invariable logic, and reaches the original height of 5 meters in a ‘folded out’ state.
The model for the art work turned out to be too big. It didn’t fit into the exhibition.
